What?

I worked with designers, developers, and stakeholders to design content for our suite of products. I also developed our design system documentation.

Who?

We served the entire insurance distribution channel, so our clients sit at every stage of a policy lifecycle:

  • Independent Agencies & Brokers: Ranging from small, local mom-and-pop agencies using tools like QQCatalyst to large, multi-state enterprise brokerages using AMS360 or Sagitta.

  • Managing General Agents (MGAs): Powering 85% of the fastest-growing MGAs in the market, who use specialized platforms to handle niche underwriting and program distribution.

  • Insurance Carriers: Nearly all major Property & Casualty (P&C) carriers use Vertafore's regulatory compliance networks. In fact, Vertafore processing networks handle roughly 50% of all insurance producer-compliance transactions in the U.S.

Why?

Insurance is full of complex processes. We needed our products to meet the current standard of digital experiences while making our users’ day to day tasks more seamless.

How?

I edited and developed content for our product pages. I integrated myself into the design and research projects early on, so I was able to choose the best ways to present the content to our users.

Documentation

I developed documentation for our design system. I approached this like a design problem because it deserved the same level of care that a design problem gets.

Step 1: Research

I first interviewed each of the designers to see what they were looking for out of our documentation. I then conducted analysis to see how leaders in the industry documented their designs.

Step 2: Rough draft

I then put pen to paper. Most writers know that the hardest part of a project is getting started. I wanted to get the project started without chasing perfection.

Step 3: Testing and iteration

What’s a design project without feedback? I made sure the documentation was living and breathing. I consistently checked in with the team to make sure I was meeting their needs, and I changed the docs as needed.
